‘Completion yet to prove 9 May conspiracy’

Islamabad:

The Supreme Court has noted that the prosecution has not yet supported allegations of criminal conspiracy against PTI MPA Hafiz Farhat Abbas, and noted that the case is falling within the framework of further investigations.

In an order of four pages written by Justice Naeem Akhtar deer, while hearing the pre-filled bail pleasing to PTI MPA involved in the 9th of May case, the supreme court noted that no recovery from the petition had been made and that the case recorded his cooperation during the investigation.

“The prosecution has not yet proven the claim of hatching criminal conspiracy of the petitioner at the trial. The petitioner’s fear of his arrest of the police to create humiliation and harassment despite the fact that collaboration with the investigation of the case cannot be held as vague or baseless.”

The order noted that on the basis of a tentative assessment of the available material available on the record, the case against the petitioner also fell within the framework of further investigations.

Interestingly, the same bench had previously adopted similar observations in an order that provides bail on the occasion of PTI-senator Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry.

A three-judge bench from the point of point, led by justice Afghan, heard the case. Lahore High Court had previously rejected Hafiz Farhat Abbas’s request for bail before declaration.

The order stated that the petitioner had not been named in a four -registered police station Sarwar Road, Lahore, on May 12, 2023, regarding the events of May 9.

“The other has been implicated in the complainant’s supplementary statement dated June 10, 2023 on the basis of tweets/audio/video clips on social media; the evidence value, as well as the resolution of the delayed supplementary statement of the complainant, as well as tweets/audio/video clips on social media must be determined by the trial of evidence,” the complainant added.

The court also noted that Co-prosecuted IMTIAZ MEHMOOD had already been awarded bail before the same four of the Supreme Court on April 17, 2025 in a criminal petition.

The bench observed that Hafiz Farhat Abbas, based on the consistency rule, also had the right to confirm his AD-interim-arranged bail.

The court confirmed the guarantee awarded to the petitioner before counting through his previous order dated April 15, 2025.

The other has been required to continue to cooperate with any further investigation if and when needed.
