‘Corruption’ in Property Registration Requests Investigation

Rawalpindi:

The Rawal Pindi department’s administration has taken care of severe complaints about corruption and irregularities in real estate registration offices.

In response, four officials have been suspended and 17 others have been transferred from different departments.

According to sources, investigations of the suspended staff have already begun, with official messages issued to those involved.

Despite these actions, real estate registration processes, including the transfer of ownership and the issuance of power of attorney, have been stalled for the past three weeks.

The situation has caused an estimated loss of income of RS300 million across rural areas, cities and cantons’ real estate registration offices in the Rawal Pindi division and the losses continue to grow.

The suspended officials include an assistant, a senior official and two junior officials from the settlement and registration departments.

In addition, 17 employees, including assistants, senior officials and junior officials, have been transferred.

These officials belonged to various urban and land registration offices, including those in Gujar Khan and the city. The Rawal Pindi Commissioner has ordered a thorough examination of their activities along with a review of all property registrations made in the last six months.

In a related feature, Assistant Commissioner Coordination Abdullah Ghazi has been appointed as registrar for Urban Property Registration Office. A formal message has been issued and Abdullah Ghazi has taken responsibility for his responsibility.

Sources said the operation was part of a broader effort to limit corruption and restore transparency in the real estate registration system in the Rawalpindi division.
