Court allows medical examination of Imran Khan

A special court in Islamabad on Tuesday approved two petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, who gave him the right to talk to his children and undergo a medical control.

The decision was announced by the special judge Central FIA, Shah Rukh Arjumand, who approved both Khan’s requests after reviewing the petitions.

Imran’s lawyers, Usman Riaz Gill and Zaheer Abbas, appeared in court.

During the hearing today, Advocate Gill claimed that although a previous court decision had called for a medical control, this should now be performed by Khan’s personal doctors in the presence of prison staff.

He also requested that regular monthly checks be ensured.

Zaheer Abbas added that previous medical examinations had already been performed under Islamabad High Court’s orders. The legal team called on the right to maintain Khan’s right to health and family contact.

After reviewing the submissions, the right to IMRAN’s advantage, both requests and ordered prison authorities to arrange a telephone conversation between IMRAN and his children. The court also ordered that a medical control was performed by his personal doctors, with a compliance report to be submitted on April 28.

Imran, who remains imprisoned in the midst of the ongoing legal challenges, has repeatedly raised concerns about limited family contact and health issues.
