Dallas Cowboys -Owner Jerry Jones was sitting right next to Brian Schottenheimer, his new hire of head coach, Monday when he said what many fans and different teams were thinking when the news broke.
This rent is a great risk.
Schottenheimer was introduced as Cowboys ‘next head coach after Jones’ decision not to sign Mike McCarthy, who had Schottenheimer as his offensive coordinator this last season. The rent as well as the Jones process and the organization started doing so has been blown up by fans and experts.

Despite Schottenheimer being on the right, Jones responded to these critics on Monday.
“I get my wording A- kicked to need people in my comfort zone,” Jones told journalists via the New York Post. “Without this thing is about me in any way if you don’t think I can’t work out of my comfort zone, you’re so wrong that it’s incredible.
“This is such a great risk as you can take. As great risk as you can take. No head coach experience.”

Not much of a vote of confidence from this quote under what is usually an optimistic view of a new coaching chapter for a franchise.
But the tone changed from Jones as he discussed Schottenheimer, who has plenty of coaching experience, even though he has not run his own program yet. He began his career as an assistant to Rams in 1997, and he has worked his way up through various organizations, including serving as offensive coordinator for Rams, the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and the University of Georgia. He is also the son of the famous NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer.
Jones pointed to the younger Schottenheimer’s family tree while discussing his qualifications.

“We know what osmosis is and we know what Schotty was growing up around,” Jones explained pr. Nfl.com. “Honestly from the Schotty point of view, these x hair crossed meetings with Schotty. [defensive coordinator Mike] Zimmer. … I’ve seen him bite his lip sometimes when he didn’t necessarily agree with that direction. But he bite his lip when his father would have asked him to bite your lip.
“You go around to the countless number of coaches that Schotty has served with staff with and been in. The countless players. How often do you have someone who has 25 years of work through the human relationship?” Jones added.
Schottenheimer is said to have a good relationship with cowboys franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, which will be critical of making this work post-McCarthy. Prescott was one who said towards the end of the season as he rehabed from a surgically repaired hamstring that he would advocate McCarthy, who returned as a head coach.
Schottenheimer owns the keys to “America’s Team” now, and he knows how big a responsibility it leads this Super Bowl-Sulty team back to the playoffs.

But he now knows that his owner thinks what has been put out there on social media: He is a risky rent. It is up to Schottenheimer to prove that the risk was worth the reward.
