Craft Bazaar shows cultural heritage

Nomad Art Gallery brought Islamabad to life with a vibrant cultural event that seamlessly merged art, crafts and cinema for an inspiring experience for visitors from all walks of life. The event drew diplomats, artists, entrepreneurs and the public to celebrate Pakistan’s different cultural heritage.

The event was inaugurated by Austria’s ambassador to Pakistan, Andrea Wicke, along with Ireland and Jordan’s ambassadors. In their opening notes, the dignitors emphasized the important role that art and culture play in the promotion of peace, tolerance and understanding among communities. Especially Ambassador Andrea Wicke highlighted the power of cultural expression to bridge the dividing line and promote dialogue.

A major highlight of the event was Crafts Bazaar, which offered a carefully curated selection of handmade crafts from all over Pakistan. The Bazaar presented a colorful and captivating showcase for textiles, jewelry, accessories and home decor, all made by talented craftsmen representing a wide range of cultural traditions.

Visitors had the rare opportunity to interact with the craftsmen, understand the stories behind their work and buy items direct-support local talent and community-based entrepreneurship.

Exhibitions included a wide range of products from the Nomad Art Gallery’s craft partners scattered across the country. These included lively Ajrak prints from Sindh, finely woven Kashmiri shawls and embroidery, environmentally friendly block prints, handmade toys of granmani and exquisite silver jewelery by the AMNA Shariff and the SS collection.

The event highlighted the enormous potential of Pakistan’s traditional craft sector, especially when supported by platforms that value cultural integrity and sustainability.
