London: Pakistan dough Haider Ali has received a two-week guarantee expansion of Greater Manchester police after a British-Pakistani woman reported him to the alleged rape at a local hotel.
Haider Ali was to perform for police on August 20, 2025, but police told him to perform after two weeks. Meanwhile, the investigation will continue into the allegations.
The Greater Manchester police had confirmed to Pakinomist News that Ali was arrested due to the claims of rape. Police confirmed that it received a rape report on Monday, August 4 and arrested Ali, 24, immediately after that.
Police said: “It is alleged that the incident took place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 in a premises in Manchester. The man has since been saved pending further investigations. The victim is supported by officers.”
In his police interview, Ali had denied rape the claim.
According to his family members, he told police that he knew the girl well and that they were friends. Their meeting took place at a local hotel in Manchester, the source told Pakinomist News.
He was arrested at Spitfire County Cricket Ground, Kent, from the players’ canteen office. He was led to the Canterbury -Police station by Kent police officers.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Ali has so far been suspended during the criminal investigation.
“PCBs respect the legal procedures and processes in the United Kingdom and recognize the importance of letting the investigation run its righteousness,” PCB had said in a statement.
“Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under preliminary suspension, with effect immediately pending the result of the ongoing study.
“Once the trial has ended and all facts have been duly determined, the PCB reserves the right to take appropriate steps according to its code of conduct if necessary.”
Ali has represented Pakistan in 35 Twenty20 Internationals since he debuted in 2020, as well as two one-day international.
