Karachi:

Despite repeated demands from police officers for a fall in crime, the harsh reality of the earth paints a very different picture.

According to the latest report released by Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), Karachi’s streets remained dangerous and unpredictable during March 2025, when hundreds were killed and thousands of citizens were deprived of their vehicles, motorcycles and mobile phones in snaping and theft events.

In the March month alone, Karachiite’s major financial losses suffered when 160 vehicles were either snapped or stolen, 4,179 motorcycles were removed in similar crimes, and 1,312 mobile phones were snapped from citizens by gun.

The situation becomes even more alarming when you look at the first three months of 2025. From January to March, the number was even more staggering, with a total of 537 vehicles lost, 12,182 motorcycles disappeared from roads and parking spaces and 4,300 mobile phones were snapped from citizens.

Similarly, in the same month, an incident with kidnapping for ransom and 9 incidents with extortion was reported. During this time, 42 citizens were also killed during the targeted killings of the city.
