Islamabad:
Authorities in the Upper South Waziristan have expanded a district -wide curfew to another consecutive day with reference to increased security concerns.
According to an official review “all movement across the district will remain completely limited” under the curfew. The order affects markets, trading centers and transport roads.
Deputy Commissioner Ismatullah Wazir said that all bazaars, commercial areas and public routes in the Upper South Waziristan will remain closed throughout the curfew.
“From Sararogha to Kotkai, Spinkai Raghzai to Nazar Khel, all roads will remain sealed,” he said. “Movement from Dargai Pul, Madi Jan, Shin Warsak to Mola Khan Sarai and Chagmali will also be strictly forbidden.”
Travel will only be allowed in emergencies and under strict conditions – with police or security preparation, valid identification and submission of documents.
Residents have been asked to pull their vehicles at least 100 meters from the road after seeing any security convoy, the message added.
Routes from Serwekai to Mola Khan Sarai and against Barwand also remain closed. All roads from Tiarza to Torwam must also be blocked. The renewed restrictions follow a recent increase in security threats throughout the region. No timeline was given to lift the curfew.
