Customs Officers at Lahores Alama Iqbal International Airport captured an attempt to smuggle 102 iPhones to Pakistan from Bangkok with an estimated value of millions of rupees.
The operation, based on a tip-off, targeted a passenger who arrived at a foreign airline from Bangkok, reported Express News.
The authorities acting on a secret alarm found the phones hidden from the passenger’s belongings.
The passenger identified as Malik Shahid Hussain of Lahore was taken into custody.
A case has been registered against him and investigations are conducted.
Customs officials, led by Collector Customs Tayyiba Kiani, confirmed the successful operation and repeated the effort to prevent smuggling at all airports in Punjab would continue.
