Cyber Crime Agency Summon’s Aleema Khan Over ‘Anti-State’ positions

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a message that calls Aleema Khan in connection with alleged anti-state activities performed via social media.

According to sources within NCCIA, Aleema has been instructed to perform in person at the Agency’s Lahore office in Gulberg-II on Thursday at. 11.30 pm. The notice relates to a study associated with a case registered against her on May 27, 2025.

Officials told Express news That the purpose of her appearance is to register a statement in her defense. The query relates to accusations that Aleema was involved in online activity considered hostile to the state.

The message warned that non -compliance would be interpreted as a refusal or inability to present a defense. It further stated that in the event of non -compliance, litigation would move forward in absence.

NCCIA warned that failure to perform could result in action under section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with non-participation in response to an order from a public employee. In such a case, the agency said, arrest could be justified.

The federal government formally created NCCIA last year and replaced the cybercrime wing of the federal exploration agency. The new organ had been tasked with dealing with a growing number of online violations.

At the time of NCCIA’s creation, Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar had declared that the authority was set up to tackle questions such as online harassment, incorrect information and spread of anti-state propaganda while protecting citizens’ digital rights.
