The traffic police, in collaboration with the Hog Bikers Club, organized a demonstration to promote road safety awareness among motorcyclists. Rally, led by you Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah, aimed to emphasize responsible driveting practice and the importance of compliance with traffic rule.
The rally began from Nishan-E-Haider at the sea view and passed through larger city landmarks, including Teen-Talwar, Do Talwar, Metropole, Sharae Faisal, Drigh Road, Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road and Ma Jinnah Road, before ending with Mazar-E-Quaid, where the participants offered Fateha. Heavy bicycle riders and the traffic police staff participated in the rally.
When he spoke at the closing ceremony, the Traffic Police talked about the growing concerns related to motorcycle security and noticed that motorcycles make up more than 56% of the city’s traffic, and a significant portion of fatalities in road accidents involve motorcyclists.
“It is not always the fault of the motorcyclist on an accident, but caution measures can significantly reduce the risks,” he said. He urged riders to wear helmets, secure functional headlights, backlight, rear mirrors, chain covers and anti-gators and avoid fast and one-way violations to improve road safety.
The dike also sheds light on serious infrastructure deficiencies, which reveals that only 57 traffic signals are currently operational in the city, while 2,000 to 2,500 are required to effectively regulate traffic.
