The United Nations: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has called for closer cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to promote peace, fight rising religious hatred and defend oppressed people’s rights worldwide.
In a speech in his capacity as President of the UN Security Council, Dar Pakistan’s statement provided a special briefing on “Collaboration between the United Nations and Regional and Subregional Organizations to maintain international peace and security: organizing Islamic cooperation (OIC)”.
He described OIC as an important bridge that connects international and regional efforts and adapted political goals with humanitarian needs.
OIC, he noticed, stands out not only for his great membership, but for his clear principles – including respect for sovereignty, human dignity and justice.
“OIC’s legitimacy comes from its enormous and diverse membership, but from the principle clarity of its mandate – to maintain justice, protect human dignity, respect national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all Member States and promote solidarity among nations,” he is unseiced.
Dar warned of the growing threat of extremism and Islamophobia and said such a hatred goes against the very spirit of the UN Charter. He emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation to address this trend.
“Religious hatred is not only morally unjustifiable – it strikes the very foundation of the UN -Charter,” he emphasized.
He also praised Oi’s long -standing support for the Palestinian case and the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well as ending the long -term illegal occupation of India.
The minister also appreciated OIC’s positive role in supporting the peace efforts in Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Sahel and beyond.
He called for him to describe as India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir and confirmed Pakistan’s support for self -determination in both regions.
Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the Security Council’s consensus to a presidential statement he said would help elaborate on the tape between the UN and OIC and support their joint work in Libya conflict zones to Sahel.
