Dar meets Chinese FM Wang Yi on the sidelines of the SCO summit

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the SCO Council for Foreign Ministers, who met in Tianjin.

Dar congratulated his Chinese counterpart with the successful hosting of the summit and thanked Beijing for the hospitality expanded to Pakistan’s delegation.

The two leaders held discussions about shared strategic priorities, including the China Pakistanic Economic Corridor (CPEC) and multilateral cooperation in regional and international platforms.

Both sides emphasized the strength of Pakistan-China All-Weather strategic cooperative partnerships and expressed satisfaction over their close coordination across political, economic and security domains.

According to the statement, Dar and Wang repeated their commitment to elaborate on bilateral cooperation aimed at promoting regional peace, development and stability.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Dar described the visit as successful, the Chinese government thanked for his warm hospitality and recognized the efforts of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry and the Embassy in Beijing for their role in ensuring a smooth diplomatic commitment.

Earlier on Tuesday, the DAR ACO Council of Foreign Ministers, in which he confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to regional stability, multilateral cooperation and peaceful dispute resolution.

DAR described SCO as a stabilizing platform in the midst of the elaboration of global geopolitical uncertainty and praised China’s leadership in managing the organization’s agenda forward. He also welcomed the bidding room as the newest full member of the regional block.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to visit China in August, accompanied by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to further promote bilateral ties and discuss recent regional development, including May conflict with India.
