Islamabad:
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar was chairman of a follow -up meeting on Friday to review the pricing and supply of important foods, especially sugar.
The meeting attended the Minister of National Food Safety, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, secretaries of food security and industries and other senior officials.
The committee reviewed key aspects of the sugar sector. It also decided the principle approval of the import of 0.5 million tonnes of sugar. DAR confirmed the government’s obligation to protect the interests of both consumers and suppliers.
