DAR warns of strong reaction to Israeli aggression

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar have said that Pakistan is a nuclear power and will defend his sovereignty at all costs if it is attacked, no matter which country is responsible.

In a special interview with Al Jazeera in Doha on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Nursing Meeting, Dar described the recent Israeli strike on Qatar as a serious action against international law, the UN-Charter and Muslim Countries’ sovereignty.

He warned that if the Muslim world is limiting to statements alone, countries representing 2 billion Muslims will appear to have failed in their people’s eyes.

Dar said Israel has become an uncontrollable state that challenges the sovereignty of one Muslim country after another. “You’ve seen Lebanon, Syria, Iran and now Qatar attacked. This approach is unacceptable,” he said, adding that Qatar was involved in us and Egyptian-mediated peace talks at the time of the strike and that the attack was intended to sabotage this process.

Referring to a meeting in the 57-member organization of Islamic cooperation, he said this is not time for decisions and statements; There is a need for a clear action plan that outlines what measures will be taken if Israel does not stop its aggression.

He said that Pakistan, together with Somalia and Algeria, immediately sought a special session in the UN Security Council and also mobilized the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In the interview, Ishaq Dar said military action is a last resort and Pakistan’s priority has always been peace, dialogue and diplomacy. But if dialogue fails and the aggression does not stop, effective practical measures are needed, “which may include financial sanctions, litigation or formation of a regional security force.”

When asked about Pakistan’s nuclear capacity, Ishaq Dar said the country’s nuclear power is purely defensive, has never been used and there is no intention of using it; But if Pakistan’s sovereignty is attacked, it will defend itself at all costs, no matter what country involved.

Compared Israel’s strike on Qatar with the American action against bin Laden called Ishaq Dar the analogy a failed attempt to divert attention and said the world knows what this operation was. He noted that Pakistan himself has been the greatest victim and target of terrorism.

Ishaq Dar said Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute with UN decisions. He described India’s revocation of Article 370 and the integration of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in India as disputed acts that violate international law.

He said India has no right to withdraw from the Indus Waters Treaty, and if India transforms water into a weapon, it would be considered an act of war. He emphasized that Pakistan considers the question as a matter of national security and will not compromise.

When he talked about the clash 7 to 10 May with India, he said Pakistan demonstrated clear defensive superiority and undermined India’s claim of a regional safety net.

On the relations with Afghanistan, he said ties have improved with progress with trade, agreements and rail projects, but the presence of elements such as TTP, Bla and Mujahid Brigade in Afghanistan are unacceptable.

He demanded that these militants be handed over to Pakistan or expelled from Afghanistan.

Ishaq Dar said that global decisions about Palestine and Kashmir are not implemented; If the UN decisions simply become paper, what’s left of the UN’s credibility? He called for reforms in the Security Council and strong measures against countries that ignore its decisions.

Finally, the Foreign Minister called for the most pressing step now to be an unconditional truce and unbound delivery of humanitarian assistance in Gaza. He said that every moment is precious and the protection of each life must be the highest priority.

The strikes were carried out jointly by the military and Shin Bet Security Agency, the two bodies said in a statement.

Qatar condemned the attack and said it had targeted housing buildings that houses the Hamas Political Bureau members.
