- The majority of Daredevil: Born again‘s release plan has been revealed
- Disney+ Show’s Episodic Release Format differs slightly from other Marvel TV series
- Fans have come with two major theories about why the change has been made
Daredevil: Born again‘s release plan (most of it anyway) has been revealed, and it is immediately triggered discussions among fans about its unusual episodic release format.
A direct continuation of the beloved Daredevil TV show that originally ran on Netflix from 2015 to 2018, Born again is one of the most expected Marvel projects this year. And with the launch approaching quickly – confirmed Marvel Daredevil: Born again would arrive on March 4 (USA) and March 5 (UK and Australia) in October 2024 – Fan tension has intensified a notch in recent weeks.
This tension turned to curiosity yesterday (February 18), but after the release plan for its first six episodes was revealed. In a Disney press message that outlined Disney+’s March 2025 line-up, fans were immediately drawn to the fact that Born again‘s fifth and sixth episodes arrive on the platform on the same day – it’s March 25 for US audience and March 26 for British and Australian viewers.
Why is Daredevil: Born again to get a two-episoded release midway through his first season?
It is not unusual for Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to show to receive two-episode premieres on Disney+. Many of its predecessors including Your friendly neighborhood spider-man and Agatha all the time The same was launched with double episode drops on release day. Disney+’s latest press blast confirmed Daredevil: Born again Gets the same treatment.
However, this is the first time a Marvel TV show has a two-episod drop in the middle of the season. It is even more bisar when you realize that other episodes are following the traditional Marvel TV show weekly release format. For example, episodes 3 and 4 are released on March 11 (USA) / 12 March (UK and Australia) and March 18 (USA) / 19 March (UK and Australia).
So why is Marvel experimenting with a double episode in the middle of the season here? I have two major theories, and given what I’ve read online since this information emerged, other MCU fans are thinking on similar lines.
The first hypothesis is a history -based. Daredevil: Born again‘s first season includes nine episodes, and it is possible that if the narrative that plays beyond episodes 5 and 6 is essentially a two-parter, it makes sense to release them together. Why get fans to wait a week to find out what happens if section 5 ends on a rock bracket? Of course, it would generate lots of discussion after episod 5’s release, but it may not be in the best of history, as one of the best Disney+ shows (potentially, anyway) trying to tell.
The second and more likely reason, however, is that Disney does not want this Marvel phase 5 production to clash with another avid-emergent series that will debut on one of the world’s best streaming services in the near future. The program in question? Andor Season 2, which is one of the best-rated Star Wars projects in the last five years.
Last November confirmed Disney Andor‘s second and last season would premiere on April 22. If Daredevil: Born again Followed by the usual Marvel TV show release format after its two-episode premiere, its season 1 final would not land on Disney+ until April 22. It would pit it against the two-episode premiere of AndorSophomore excursion. It would be a confusing movie if Disney released these three episodes on the same day and subsequently cannibalizing each series’ viewing number.
But what do you think? Are me and my colleagues Marvel devoted on the right track of Born again‘s mid-season double heading? Or have you come up with another theory? Tell me that in the comments! Once you have done so should Daredevil: Born again guide.
