The final of Daredevil: Born again Season 1 has landed on Disney+ – and Hell’s Bells, painting it a gloomy, yet hopeful image of New York City.
This season ninth and last episode, entitled ‘Straight to Hell’, has it all. In fact, it is a tough blend of melodrama, ultra-violent action and crime-based storytelling that puts gripping events to get into Marvel TV show’s next installment.
When the dust sits down on Daredevil’s first free adventure in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I imagine you have lots of questions about what’s happening in its latest post. So let’s break down who, what and why of it all.
Full spoilers immediately follow to the last episode of Daredevil: Born again” s first season. Don’t continue if you haven’t seen it yet.
Who dies in Daredevil: Born again section 9?
None of them notice. Well, unless you consider Police Commissioner Gallo as an important character in the Marvel Phase 5 TV series. He had a part of his head thrown in, and his lower jaw torn from his skull by Wilson Fisk, who fully entered his mayor Kingpin -Phase in the popular show’s latest chapter.
Jeremy Earl’s Cole North also seems to die in the final. He was still in Matt Murdock’s apartment when AVTF jumped it up with a grenade or two, unless he escaped before the explosives were detonated, he also died.
Gallo and North aside, the only people who have encountered Born again‘s ninth episode is a bunch of anti-vigilante taskforce (AVTF) officers. A number of them are executed by Frank Castle/The Punisher when, at Karen Page’s request, he helps Matt Murdock/Daredevil flee from Murdock’s apartment as Avtf chases the latter in his home.
Does the Punisher die in Daredevil: Born again?
No. As I said, no one who is part of the MCU TV show’s main crew is killed in ‘Straight to Hell’.
However, I can see why people may think that Punisher is not long for this world. He tries to take on AVTF on his own, and while Frank Castle is an expert fighter and Markmann, he can’t even fight for a whole army of corrupt police. It has turned out as much when he is taken hostage by Fisk’s militia and then beaten by them.
Fortunately for fans of Jon Bernhal’s iconic takeover of the anti -hero, Castle lives to fight another day. Mot the end of this episode we learn that he has been jailed in Wilson Fisk’s Secret Lair in Red Hook Port. With Castle set to appear in Born again Season 2 (more on this later) and/or his own Disney+ special presentation, we also see more of him in the future.
What is martial arts and why mayor fish it in Daredevil: Born again Season 1 final?
Martial Law has different meanings across the globe. In the United States, it is defined as the temporary implementation of military authority over civilian government, which is usually invoked in a time of war, rebellion or natural disaster.
So why does Mayor Fish – or, as we will now refer to him, Mayor Kingpin because of his criminal activities in a state position – martial arts for the state of New York?
The main reason is to continue its fight against the so -called Vigilante’s scourge. Kingpin has no time or patience for those who take the law in their own hands. In fact, he has fought for his reasonable proportion of Vigilantes in Daredevil’s TV shows on Disney+ and Netflix, also known as two of the world’s best streaming services, so ban on them will completely allow him to fulfill one of his mayor promises to clean up the streets of his hometown.
Implementation of FAMPLOV will help with this goal. As a by -product of its adoption, Kingpin can enforce a daily curfew that prevents the vigilance from roaming the streets at night. It also allows Hans AVTF to use military strength on anyone it suspects to be a criminal, whether they are a masked law enforcement or a simple villain. Finally, martial arts may limit freedom of speech, enabling Kingpin to dictate the narrative if people try to express opposition to his totalitarian leadership.
All this just made it much harder for them like Daredevil, The Punisher and even Jack Duquesne/Swordsman – the latter of which was also jailed with Castle – to perform their personal crusade in New York City.
Is there a post-credits scene in Daredevil: Forn Again’s Season 1 Final? And how does it create Punisher’s special presentation?
Yes, but it is more of a midfield scene than a final credits stinger.
In that we see Castle putting a charm offensive to convince an AVTF officer called Anthony Petruccio that he is not as bad as he has been made to be.
When Petruccio is in a striking range of Castle’s cage -like prison cell, the latter grabs Petruccio’s hand, breaks his arm and suffocates him. All the castle must do now is to grab the keys from Petruccio’s body, free himself (and potentially his fellow prisoners) and flee.
Armed with a newly revenge, I suspect Castle will go on the war path to eradicate AVTF. This can form the basis of Punisher’s special presentation, which is currently being co-written by Bernthal (per collider) and could be released in 2026 (per Hollywood reporter).
Is Foggy actually alive in Daredevil: Born again?
At this point it is incredibly unlikely. Yes, we all saw him die by the hands of Bullseye in Daredevil: Born again‘s two-episode premiere, but it has not prevented a wild Marvel fanted theory from spreading about him who false his own death. Following the release of last week’s chapter, viewers actually continued with violently discussing the fact that Foggy was alive.
It seems he is not. Foggy does not make a surprise return before section 9’s final credits. Okay, this reveal could be held back to the show’s second season – and with Marvel’s leader of TV Brad Winderbaum, confirming Elden Henson is part of Season 2’s role crew (via the phase hero’s Brandon Davis), this is an option.
However, we are not the wiser of the actual fate of Murdock’s co -lawyer and closest friend.
Where is Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born again section 9?
Who knows that? You would think that Peter Parker would at least prepare to participate in Daredevil’s reason to fight for New York’s soul. After all, the city is as much his home as it is Daredevil and Kingpins.
In spite of clear references to web sounds in Born again Section 2 and Born again However, section 3 is spider-man conspicuous of his absence. However, it is not a complete surprise. Sony owns the live-action rights to one of Marvel’s most famous heroes, so the prospect of Spidey Making a cameo in this show was never on the cards.
Does Jessica Jones, Luke Cage or other Netflix Marvel -Heroes in Born Again’s Season 1 final?
No. Fans had hoped for a crowd-pleasant como from one of these heroes after Murdock and Page talked about gathering an underground resistance to take the fight to Kingpin.
So far, however, Murdock’s army consists of himself, side, Cherry, Josie, Angie Kim and a few police officers in New York. This group will grow in Season 2, but right now Daredevil is the only super -powered creature that is part of it.
How Daredevil: Born Again’s latest episode sets up its second season
The cameras started rolling on Daredevil: Born again Season 2, which will be part of Marvel-Phase 6-Line-Up, at the end of February. But we have known that another rate has been under development since the beginning of 2023.
However, much will have changed narrative since Season 2’s inception. Actually after Born again‘s creative overhaul in the middle of the Hollywood strike in 2023, led to the hiring of a new showrunner and instructive team halfway through Season 1’s development, one of the best Disney+ show has gone in a different direction than its original design.
So how does the ‘Straight to Hell’ series create ‘Next Chapter? Apart from everything I’ve already discussed, we don’t know. A bunch of leaked Born again Season 2 photos that spoiled aspects of its ancestral end gave us some clues, but there is little else we know about what will happen in Season 2.
However, there are plenty of interesting plot threads left hanging. Will Sheila’s guilt over Gallo’s death convince her to join Murdock’s group of rengades? How will Murdock respond to Heather Glenn’s rejection to Fisk’s Team? What role will bullseye play in season 2? Will Murdock’s group succeed in reducing kingpin? And will all this play out before Avengers: Judgment Day lashes the table completely on MCU, as we know it?
With Born again Season 2, which allegedly sees a 2026 release, we do not have a ridiculously long wait for answers to these questions. After all, the devil is in the details, so Marvel will give as many as possible next time.
