- Daredevil: Born again Section 2 contains an unexpected Spider-Man Easter Egg
- Web Says are referred to by Wilson Fish early in the second chapter of the series
- It is very unlikely that Spider-Man appears in the show
Daredevil: Born again‘s two first episodes are now out on Disney+ – Read my Daredevil: Born again Review to see what I was thinking about it – and the eagerly awaited Marvel TV show already generates lots of discussions online.
Chief among these fan -conversations is to Emotionally devastating moment in his first episode (no spoilers to anyone who ended up here but hasn’t seen it yet). Discussionable as this incident, however, is that I was far more surprised by an obvious reference to Spider-Man in the show’s second episode, and it is one that has made me even more desperate for a big screen team-up between Peter Parker and Matt Murdock.
Spoilers follow Born again Section 2titled ‘With Interest’. Return now if you haven’t streamed it yet on Disney+.
The referral is referred by Wilson Fisk as he addresses New York after his mayoral election victory. Fish speaks via a live stream that appears on Times Square’s gigantic screens and beamed into homes all over the city, Fisk calls his triumph “A new era for the largest city in the world”, but it is the next part of his speech that contains the Easter egg marking on the web sap. “We don’t need a gun-plenty vigilance that wears a skull mask on his chest,” Fisk says, before adding, “or a man dressing in a spider clothing, or a guy wearing devil horn to save us.”
“Skull Mask” and “Devil Horns” remarks referring to Frank Castle/The Punisher and Murdock’s Vigilante alias respectively. After all, fish struggled both crime offenders in his time as Kingpin, alias one of New York’s most terrible crime gentlemen, under Daredevil‘s three-season driving on Netflix.
However, his quotes about “a man who dresses in a spider clothing,” is the first time that Fisk has recognized Spider-Man in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Okay until Born againrelease, fish had only appeared in two MCU projects – Hawkeye and Echo – So he hadn’t had the chance to mention Wallcrawler. However, now that he has Marvel has a golden opportunity to bring Spidey and Daredevil together to potentially fight fish.
Will Spider-Man appear in Daredevil: Born again?
Unfortunately, the chances are that Peter Parker and Matt Murdock are going together Born again are slim to none. It’s Despite Marvel fans who think they would too, with some suggesting that Born again‘s official trailer contained his own Spider-Man Easter Egg.
Why don’t Spider-Man appear in this Marvel phase 5 project? In short, he is not allowed to emerge in live-action productions on Disney+, also known as one of the world’s best streaming services.
Marvel’s head of TV, streaming and animation, Brad Winderbaum, spoke on a February 2025 edition of the Phase Zero podcast, explained why Spidey is not allowed to appear in the studio’s small screen projects. Essentially, because Sony owns the long-shaped, live-action rights to Spider-Man IP, web sounds are forbidden to appear in MCU TV shows.
However, he is allowed to play in animated projects why he made a short como in X-Men 97 Season 1 and starred in a completely separately animated series – Your friendly neighborhood spider-man – Earlier this year. Interestingly, Daredevil appeared in the latter and was expressed by Charlie Cox, who has played the character in a live-action capacity since 2015.
So what is the man of the man without fear that appears in Spider-Man 4 instead? Vincent d’Onofrio, who plays fish, recently denied (via The Meltdown Press) that he and Cox are not part of the Marvel phase 6 film’s crew. That may be the case but let’s not forget that Andrew Garfield consistently denied that he would appear in Spider-Man: No way homeAnd see what happened there.
In short, don’t expect Spidey to appear in Daredevil’s first deadly MCU adventure. If he does, you can be darn sure I will update my Daredevil: Born again Season 1 hub plus min Born again Role crew and character guide to reflect the crowd-pleasing moment.
