In DC, Darkseid is considered the ultimate villain, but his entry into the new franchise will not happen, says the studio’s co-head, James Gunn.
He explains his reasoning for not including the antagonist in an interview with New rock starsand tells that the Lord of Apokolips bears a resemblance to Marvel’s nemesis Thanos.
“Aspects of Darkseid and Thanos are obviously very similar,” he adds. “They’re very similar, and so I think to give you probably more of an answer than you expected, it’s not necessarily right to use Darkseid as the big bad right now, for a lot of reasons.”
“Because Zack made it so cool in his own way and because of Thanos and Marvel,” says the filmmaker, referring to Zack Snyder, who previously made the DCEU films.
Previously, James shed light on his plans for the upcoming installment of Superman. “Man of Tomorrow was an idea I’ve had for a long time. I think I know the next couple I’m directing, so I already know, honestly.”
“Because it’s part of the plan for the DCU, there’s one big story. On the one hand, I want everything to be okay to watch on its own,” he concluded.
