- Deezer rolls out four new features between now and end of May
- They include new adaptation options for algorithms and the interface
- My Deezer -month and unique universal sharing also comes
Well, so Spotify still down? The Parisian rival Deezer chose a sweet moment to reveal a quartet with new features that came to his music streaming platform, right?
Deezer is clearly on a mission, not only to give a wrapped and repeated answers in the form of my Deezer month coming in May, but to allow its users to express themselves and connect with others through music – no matter what of the best music streaming services, they ping you a trace of.
Always subscribe to Spotify because it’s the one your friends are using? You are about to get another option.
Alexis Lanternies, CEO of Deezer, said: “At Deezer we are constantly innovating to offer the most personal and customizable music experience on the market. The new features we introduce today give users more control over their algorithm, greater flexibility to adapt their experience and easy ways of sharing content with their friends, even beyond Deezer. We want to keep surprising fans with new and engaging ways.”
What about the four brand new features? Let’s get into it …
Deezers new features: Let’s get granular
The four -shaped package of updates that Deezer brings is as follows:
More control over the algorithm
Deezer tells me that 40% of music streamers are either 34 or younger (yes, I don’t feel old?) And the message is clear: they want better control over the algorithm. Deezer has already developed his flow function to allow users to influence their algorithm-delivered recommendations over the years (including ‘Like’ buttons), but starting in April, Deezer launches an algorithm adaptation feature which it claims to use users ‘fully in control’ of their music discovery. For the first time in streaming music Deezer tells me that users get fine -tuned their recommended algorithm Without limitation.
During an online briefing, lanterns showed what he jokingly calls Deezer’s new personalized “nightmare section” within any user’s personal account: all the bands you dislike and a timeline for what you avoided and when. You don’t like it? You will no longer be sent numbers from these artists or similar numbers to the one you listened to and hated. Apple Music offers guard-like ‘favorite’ (star) and ‘suggests less’ (thumb down) buttons for tracks, but it’s nothing like this.
Improved personalization of the interface
The Deezer app becomes even more adaptable. From May, users will be able to organize the Favorite tab for quick access to their preferred content and create a truly personal space. They also have the opportunity to customize their playlist covers by adding photos, shapes and stickers – remodeling the app to fit their personality. Under the demo we showed how to create a cover – think emoji stickers like Suns, sunglasses and maybe a drink, a colorful background and a title like ‘Summer 2025 Ibiza’ maybe. (Lucky you, by the way …)
New statistics to discover and share your musical identity
Builds it on its annual appearance, my deezer year, launching Deezer my Deezer -month. And let’s not chop words: This is based on the mixed successes with Spotify -wrapped and Apple Music Replay (which was much better than wrapped late last year). From the beginning of May, users will receive fresh statistics-inclusive most listened songs, artists, genres and a detailed collapse of their activity, all presented in a “unique and engaging way” every month. Yes, we’ve heard of this before, but just wait …
Share your music over the Deezer
Coming at the end of April, Deezer introduces an approach to the next level to music sharing and one that exceeds your streaming platform. With a universal sharing link, Deezer tells me that users will be able to send their favorite tracks to friends and family using other streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music). The launch builds on ShakerAnother unique Deezer feature that allows subscribers to create playlists with their community, even with friends who are not on Deezer – but come now! It’s huge, no?
At a time when there is still no official sign of Spotify HiFi, Apple Music, Tidal and Qobuz’s Hi resolution streams have become increasingly tempting opportunities. Deezer’s audio file resolution still peaks on CD quality, aka 16-bit/44.1khz, (better than Spotify, not as good as the best deals from Tidal, Qobuz and Apple Music), but music can I send to a friend, sure in the knowledge that they will be able to open and enjoy it, even if they are used to get lower Spotify stains that flow? It’s huge – and a big reason to change.
