Islamabad:
The government has announced large allocations to defense, civil administration, pensions, subsidies and grants in its budget for the financial year 2025-26.
The defense budget has been horizontal by over 20%, as RS2,550 billion is set aside in the budget 2025-26, which will be spent on the operations, equipped and other needs of the Pakistani Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy and related defense institutions.
For civil administrative expenses, RS971 billion has been earmarked, which includes operating expenses for federal ministries, departments and civilian bureaucracy.

An amount of RS1,055 billion has been allocated. According to the budget document, this amount increases each year, adding the government’s financial evil.
As for subsidies, the government has earmarked RS1,186 billion for different sectors, especially the electricity sector. These subsidies will be delivered to low -income consumers, agricultural pipes and the industrial sector to facilitate them.
For grants, RS1,928 billion has been awarded, which will be distributed among Benazir Income Support Program (Bisp), Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the merged districts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The goal is to promote development, welfare projects and financial stability in these regions.
