DEFI GAME AAVEGOTCHI To leave polygon, migrating the entire ecosystem to Coinbases Base

Dao, who runs Aavegotchi, a niche non-spongy token (NFT) game, voted overwhelming to migrate the entire ecosystem to the base from Polygon, a feature that reflects changing developer and user assentment in the wider Ethereum-Lay-Lay-Like Landscape.

With 93.25% of the votes in favor, the proposal-with the title “Make Aavegotchi based” plans for a full implementation on the base, puts the Coinbase Layer-2 Blockchain, which has been given traction among decentralized applications.

All Aavegotchi NFTS, Wearables, gaming assets and smart contracts will be cloned and relaunched on the base, according to the proposal, with older assets on polygon set to remain visible but frozen to prevent transfers or updates.

Migration comes in the midst of a steep decrease in polygon consumption. According to Data from Defillama, the total value locked (tvl) on the chain has fallen from a nearly $ 10 billion top in 2021 to just $ 737 million today. At the beginning of 2024, Tvl stood at $ 892 million.

The base, meanwhile, has seen Tvl wave for $ 2.9 billion from $ 430 million since the beginning of last year. Artemis data further shows that Polygon’s daily active addresses dropped from 1.3 million to 550,000 in the past year, while the base more than doubled to almost 900,000.

Pixelcraft Studios, the developer behind Aavegotchi, quoted improved onboarding, faster transactions and better marketplace support as key causes for the move. A wrapping contract will also be introduced to protect assets listed in marketplaces such as Magiceden and OpenSea.

Migration is expected to be completed within four to six weeks.
