Karachi:
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Railways has recommended one month for one month for provincial secretaries to transfer titles in the railway area obtained to Pakistan Railways warning that non -compliance would result in their call for the committee.
The recommendation came under the committee’s 10th meeting held at the Divisional Superintendent of Pakistan Railways Office, Karachi, led by Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan on Wednesday, according to a news message.
Members were informed that out of 19,594 hectares of railway land in the Karachi division, 954 hectares have been intervened by private individuals. Of this, approx. 340 hectares picked up over the past three years.
Divisional Superintendent emphasized that one of the biggest obstacles in recycling the country is delayed in the transfer of land titles from provincial governments to Pakistan Railways.
As part of the meeting, the committee also visited the Karachi Port Trust, Keamari, to observe shipping load and unloading operations that they appreciated for its efficiency. Members later inspected Cantt. Railway station for reviewing public facilities and overall conditions.
