- Dell CEO puts view of AI’s future
- AI will never replace human workers but will help them instead, says Michael Dell
- Businesses should see AI as a good way to reinvent oneself too
CEO of Dell Technologies has told Techradar Pro That AI offers a great opportunity for organizations to reassess themselves to positive effect
When he spoke on a Q&A session in Dell Technologies World 2025, Michael Dell looked to assure us that AI will never fully replace human workers and can actually offer them a whole new sight.
In a broad discussion, Dell also placed its views on political instability that affect the technology sector and some of his most important leadership principles.
“Always some changes”
“The way I think of this is that if you look at any progress, it is for any technology, you always have some change going on,” Dell said in response to our questions about AI that affects or even replaces human workers.
“My way of thinking is that there is probably an effect of 10 percent for it – but I think 90 percent of it is actually growth and expansion and opportunity, and ultimately what I think you will see is more opportunities, more economic growth.”
“There are a lot of things that we don’t do as we used to do because we have the tools and we are more effective as a species because of it – (using AI) is just another example of it.”
“One of the keys beyond productivity and efficiency, which I think for organizations, is to reimburse themselves and say, okay, what is the track for these capabilities, where will it go, and what should our activity look in three years, five years, given this capacity.”
“You know, a lot of roles today just didn’t exist 10, 20, 30 years ago – and no one expected it.”
After talking to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in his opening of keynote speaker, Dell was also asked if the two shared any general management principles.
“I think, at any time there is a new technology you have to jump ahead (and think), what is the probable impact of this and how should we change? And if we do not have a passion around it or there is no crisis in your organization – we do one! We think it can make us a better company.”
Dell was also asked how changing global economic and political situations can affect the company’s future prospects
“We agree that these are questions and challenges,” he said, “in my general view, the importance of this technology is greater than all these problems – and I heard someone recently say, tokens is bigger than customs – and that would like to summarize our views on it.”
“Are all these things useful to our business? No, they are not – but there is a limit to what we can do about it, right? We can certainly do the things we need to do and focus on the things we can control – we see lots of companies that have to do with all these challenges, just as we are, and by moving on in any case.”
