Dengue -s cases rise to 90 in kp

The latest rain and changing weather patterns have hit alarm bells to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa health department as the number of active dengue cases in the province has risen to 90.

According to official figures, a total of 398 people have been infected with Dengue so far, while 308 has recovered. Over the past 24 hours alone, 82 new cases were confirmed.

The highest number of active cases is reported from Charsadda, where 73 patients are currently undergoing treatment. Other districts reporting the reporting of Nowshera and Mansehra (three each), Swabi (three), Lakki Marwat (two), Abbottabad (two), Haripur (EN), Martan (EN), Peshawar (EN) and Tank (EN).

Health officials warned that stagnant water left by recent rain could give breeding grounds to dengue mosquitoes. All district health officers have been instructed to intensify monitoring and preventative measures in their respective areas.

Special assistant to Chief Minister on Health, Ehtesham Ali, clarified that the province is not facing a dengue emergency situation. He urged the public not to be aware of rumors, by adopting precautionary measures at home and workplaces and to seek immediate medical assistance in the event of a fever.
