Denmark’s royal twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine celebrated their 14th birthday, the first since their father became King Frederik following Queen Margrethe’s shock abdication last year.
The royal family marked the royal twins’ 14th birthday by sharing photos on Instagram.
The fantastic photos were taken on New Year’s Eve.
The post reads: “Their Royal Highnesses Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine have a birthday and turn 14 today.
“Due to the birthday, new pictures of the prince and princess will be published. The birthday pictures were taken on New Year’s Eve – shortly after the birthday boy’s father had given his first New Year’s speech.”
Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine moved up in the line of succession after their grandmother Queen Margrethe abdicated the throne on 14 January last year.
Queen Margrethe’s eldest son became King Frederik X, while his wife became Queen Mary.
According to People magazine, Queen Margrethe’s abdication came as a surprise, as she previously said she would rule her whole life, and before her was the abdication of the last Danish monarch in 1146.
