Officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire broke out at a home in Stanley around 6 p.m. ET Sunday, drawing emergency response from Gaston and Lincoln Counties, according to the Queen City News.

Both Dennis and Mary Lou Hamlin were out of the house when emergency personnel rushed to the scene.

“We are grateful for the multi-agency response and ask that the public be in prayer for the affected family and our first responders in fire, GEMs and police,” Lucia-Bend Fire Department said in a statement to the outlet.

Dennis Hamlin was listed as the manager of the real estate company that owned the house. The fire department said the house was a total loss as it took about two hours for the fire to be extinguished.
