Age seems to have come to Deontay Wilder – but don’t tell him.
The 39-year-old boxer went 42-0-1 in his first 43 games and retained his heavyweight title 10 times, but he has since lost four of his last six.
Despite his recent sliding, Wilder still thinks he has “10 years back” in the game and he has his eyes on someone specific.

Rumors and speculation have constantly swirled that Wilder would eventually enter the ring with Jake Paul, and he could make it a reality.
“It’s been lingering around, the discussions, we haven’t got anything on the desk or something similar. It’s just rumors at that moment of that time, but if it came over the desk, I’m definitely down,” Wilder told Pakinomist Digital in a recent interview. “If it came across, I would definitely accept it. I know many of the fans would love to see it.”
Paul’s lonely heavyweight struggle was last year against Mike Tyson, who took place at AT&T Stadium, the home of Dallas Cowboys. When asked where Wilder would fight Jake Paul, he suggested Hawaii and he wants help from one of Sport’s best hospitality companies.
“We may have to get on the spot to get the whole experience of how a stamp feels!” Said Wilder.
Wilder recently collaborated on site as he will be part of VIP experiences for Canelo Alvarez-Terrance Crawford match in Las Vegas next month.

“Man, I look forward to being able to attend the festivities and then be able to have on the spot in one of my matches. This Crawford-Canelo match in Vegas, man, it will be a big sight of a match. It will be crazy,” he said.
“And the official experience provider of this match is on the spot, which is the best way to experience it all, bridge. They get you closer than ever on the action, inside and outside the ring. And I let people know that I will be there on site too. I will be in the match with the location meeting and hang out with the guests and it will be good.”
Wilder’s last match came back in June – one day before Paul’s last match (they both won). Each time his next match may be, he will search for back-to-back victories for the first time since 2019. First he came in boxing because he had to pay for medical bills for his daughter, who was born with Spina Bifida.
“Dad didn’t want to fail her because he promised her he wasn’t,” Wilder said.
But now he wants to be “selfish” and fight for himself.
“I’ve been taking care of people ever since I was 12 years old. I’ve never been single in my adult life. So in my life I’ve always taken care of people. Always and still do today! But at this point I’m selfish,” Wilder said. “I’ve been selfless for a very long time. You know many people appreciated it, and many people didn’t. But at the end of the day you get so tired of being able to take care of so many people. Even the times you don’t even feel like what you don’t want or you don’t feel like you give you, but because you are a good person and your intuition, your heart tells you to help this person.
“So I have given and given and given and given, and at this point in my life the second chapter has come around, the older wilder one, you know I’m selfish. I deserve to be selfish at this point because I spared my youth to be selfless from 12 years and up, man. I’m about to be 40 years old, and now I should be selfish.

Paul is currently ready to fight Gervonta “Tank” Davis on November 14, 364 days after his match with Tyson, in an exhibition. Paul is about 60 pounds heavier than Davis, with six weight classes separating the two from each of their last matches.
