It is important to note that these figures refer to sale rather than sale. Sales indicate the units sold by Sony to distributors or retailers, while the sale would reflect the number purchased by consumers.
This total total rises to 80.3 million if you pass the data listed on Sony’s Business Data & Sales site. This page indicates that 20.9 million units were sold by 2023 rather than the 20.8 million century found in the financial reports, which pushed up the total amount.
This data indicates that the PS5 is still behind the PlayStation 4, which received 82.3 million sales in the same period after launch.

All considering this is not a bad result. PS5 suffered from several supply chain problems at the launch ranging from the Covid-19 pandemic to a semiconductor shortage.
This, paired with great demand and an abundance of dealers who snapped the available stock, made the console extremely difficult to buy in the first few years of his life.
With the very expected Grand Theft Auto 6 On the road next year, it seems almost inevitable that the sale of PS5 will eventually overtake the PS4.
