‘Dialogue with Kabul not KP’s domain’

Dera Ismail Khan:

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that dialogue with Afghanistan was not within the government Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and claimed that foreign relationships were the state’s exclusive domain.

He warned that direct intervention from provincial authorities could complicate rather than solving sensitive problems.

When he spoke during a visit to Dera Ismail Khan, the former prime minister emphasized that international diplomacy should always be performed at state level. “This is a question for the federation, not the provinces,” he added.

Abbasi painted a bleak picture of the country’s current state and noted that there were economic, political and security crises, adding that the only viable path forward lies in democratic continuity and political stability.

“We are not part of any protest movement at this time,” he managed, referring to the current attitude of the opposition. “Our primary goal is to bring all the opposition parties to a single platform.”

He admitted that also as the government, also the opposition, have remained fragmented in the past year. “Without a unified opposition, no meaningful political movement can take shape,” Abbasi said.

He added that consultations with different parties were underway to overcome internal divisions and promote collective political thought.

His statement comes as the opposition’s push to shake up the political landscape is picking up steam. Without Jui-F’s street muscle, the alliance is reportedly left to grab a unified front.

Despite several rounds of conversations, Jui-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman remains non-obligation, referring to concern over PTI’s leadership structure in the absence of prison ex-premier Imran Khan.

As reported, Maulana has sought clear insurance policies of decision -making authority before supporting the opposition movement.

Earlier on Friday, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and senior politician Mehtab visited Abbasi’s residence of Jamat Disadvantaged Disbursement (Jui-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

The meeting held in a heartfelt atmosphere was primarily to expand Eid greetings to the veteran religious and political leader.

During the visit, the leaders participated in a discussion about the ruling national political situation. The conversation allegedly affected the most important challenges faced by the country’s country and the role of the opposition party in the present landscape.

In response to a question of electricity awards, Abbasi, who spoke in DI Khan, also rejected the notion that the recent price drop reflected improved the government’s performance.

“The fall in power -tariffer is due to falling global oil prices, not local governance,” he said. “What is needed is a sustainable and long -term energy policy.”
