Cleveland Brown’s main coach Kevin Stefanski has made his decision on who will back up Joe Flacco at Quarterback this season and it’s not Sorteur Sanders.
Instead, Rookie was drafted two rounds earlier, Dillon Gabriel, was appointed backup for 41-year-old Flacco on his way into week 1 against Cincinnati Bengals.
In contrast, Stefanski said that Sanders, taken in the fifth round of Browns back in April, will serve as the emergency third quarterback to start the year.

Stefanski talked about the decision to go with Gabriel over Sanders to start the year.
“It’s such an all -inclusive evaluation,” he told journalists. “Everything that guys did in the games was important, but we also saw many of them here in practice. How they are on their craft and [Gabriel] is definitely someone we think is getting better and better. “

The decision was between Gabriel and Sanders after Cleveland made decisive quarterback movements before completing their 53-man list on Tuesday prior to the league’s at 1 p.m. 16.00 ET-LIFT.
First, veteran Tyler “Snoop” Huntley was waived, and Browns followed up by trading Kenny Pickett to Las Vegas Raiders. Raiders were desperate for a backup after Aidan O’Connell, who was to play behind Geno Smith to start the season, suffered a broken wrist under the team’s trial final.

When Huntley and Pickett were gone, Browns were left with Flacco, Gabriel and Sanders. Deshaun Watson is still recovering from a torn Achilles and was never expected to be an opportunity to start in 2025.
Sanders initially strengthened his case for a higher place on the quarterback depth card with an impressive debut in the forecast against Carolina Panthers and completed 14 of 23 passes in 138 yards and two touchdowns along with four carrier in 19 yards.
Injury held him out of the team’s second game, but he returned in the second half of the final against Rams, where he fought – ending only 3 of 6 in 14 yards while taking five sacks.
Gabriel, after missing the residue opener with a hamstring injury, played in the last two Forsy season -Matchups. He finished 25 of 37 passes in 272 yards with a touchdown and an eavesdropping. Against Rams, he walked 12 of 19 in 129 yards and threw his lonely touchdown of the forecast.

Depth charts are often changed over a season, and although Sanders is QB3 at the moment, he has made the 53-man list and can develop into a potential influence player in the future.
