Uzbekistan Airways has announced the commencement of direct flights between Tashkent and Islamabad, which will begin on May 24, according to Arab News. Originally, the airline operates weekly flights every Saturday.
There are currently discussions with civil aviation authority to end the necessary logistical and regulatory events. Subject to demand and operational considerations, the frequency of flights is expected to rise over time.
In addition to the Tashkent-Islamabad route, Uzbekistan Airways is investigating plans to introduce direct flights to Karachi in the near future.
Currently, Uzbekistan Airways operates two weekly flights between Tashkent and Lahore on Wednesdays and Fridays, providing essential air connection between the two countries.
The new air connection is expected to strengthen people-to-people exchanges, trade and tourism between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The initiative is the result of joint efforts from the Uzbek Embassy in Islamabad and Uzbekistan Airways JSC, aiming to elaborate on the collaboration and promote stronger ties between the two nations.
