- Matt Reeves have updated fans about what they can expect from Batman Part II
- The film’s author-director says film shooting begins at the end of April or early May 2026
- He also teased his main villain and confirmed if it will be part of DCU
Matt Reeves have shared some new details about Batman Part II -And all except confirming whether his bat verse will be folded into the DC universe (DCU).
In a speech with Josh Horowitz about Red Carpet 2025 Emmy Awards, the film’s co-author and director revealed that Robert Pattinson-led franchise will not be part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Nascent Cinematic Universe.
Answer to Horowitz’s comment that Gunn-Name-dropped Reeves like someone, that DC-Studio’s co-chief would wish to direct a movie that is set within his and Safran’s restarted superhero franchise, Reeves said, “I’m very flattered. It’s really a kind of James to say, and it would be really exciting to work with him. [story] But it’s still dc [a DC Studios] production]so it’s their [Gunn and Safran’s] also. “
Look at
Reeves ‘answer will be a dagger for the heart of fans who hoped that Batman Epic Crime Saga (TBECS)-It’s the official name for Reeves’ Bat-Vers-Ville merge with DCU.
For months, fans have discussed whether TBECs would join DCU, and officially Induct Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting altar-ego to Gunn and Safran’s new look franchise. It is despite a large DCU update that Gunn and Safran gave in February, which saw that the former insisted that Pattinson would not be their Batman of the Universe.
Last month suggested a non -built -up report Batman 2 would include one of the dark knight’s most famous allies in Robin who just happened to be part of The brave and boldalias the Batman-starring DCU chapter a movie that is still in early development. Gunn quickly rejected that report at the time, but it did little to dampen speculation that a merger would happen.
With two Batman properties under Development at DC Studios, some fans also think general audiences may be confused about different versions of Caped Crusader existing at the same time on the big screen. Folding TBECs into DCU would therefore be an easy way to solve this dilemma in some of the eyes.
Rictally, this problem has not been resolved by Reeves’ latest comments on the matter. Nevertheless, they finally give the closure of the multi -year debate about a possible merger, and I am firstly glad it is over.
A villain -like tease for the big bad bat next enemy
It was not the only narrative information Reeves provided about his next big screen project.
In August, Warner Bros. revealed CEO David Zaslav that the cameras would start rolling on Batman Part II At the beginning of 2026. Speaking with Horowitz gave Reeves a more concrete answer about his production start date by saying that filming would begin “in late April or early May”.
Then there is the mystery of who the film’s primary antagonist will be. BatmanThe main villain was Riddler, but given the large size of Superhero’s Rogues Gallery, its successor Big Bad could be an arbitrary number of Supervillains.
Predictably, Reeves would not say which of them had been chosen as the primary enemy of Bruce Wayne and his superhuman alias, but teased it could be someone who has never appeared in a live-action Batman movie before.
“One of the explorations for me was to do something that pushes further into the nature of Bruce Wayne,” Reeves said. “The first story is so much about Batman, and then I always wanted in the movies to make sure we get – let’s say we get three and I have no idea [if we will] – But if we get three, I always wanted the movies to focus on his character.
“Once you get past the Story of Origin, which we didn’t quite do, but we did something that referred to his origin, you begin to tell Rogues Gallery story,” continued Reeves, “and I would never lose Rob in the center of these stories. Then pick the real villain digging into it, [and] Going into his past and his life, that’s what ran that discussion. I don’t want to say who we ended up with, but it’s never really been done in a movie before, so we’re super excited about it. “
So who could it be? A person who immediately jumps in mind is Hush who has great ties to Bruce Wayne in the comics? Then there is the wealthy Gotham-based Secret Society named The Court of Owls. Wayne is a fairly recent addition to Batman’s Rogues Gallery, Wayne believes they were complicit in his parents’ death in ‘The New 52’ renewal of DC comics. None of the parties have appeared in a Live-Action Batman flick before, and given their links to Wayne himself, both criteria that Reeves referred to.
But what do you think? Who could Batman 2‘s villain be? Tell me that in the comments.
