Displacement continues from mamond in the middle of tension

Bajaur:

In the wake of continuous tension and the threatening opportunity for a military operation, the migratory of Mamond Tehsil from Bajaur continues unabated.

According to local sources, hundreds of families have so far left the area and are seeking security in other parts of the district and beyond.

The district administration has also ordered the removal of corn crops planted within 100 meters from the roadside.

Farmers have been given a three-day ultimatum to harvest their crops, with officials citing security concerns behind the directive.

Authorities said the measures are part of the precautionary steps being taken as the situation remains unstable in the region.

On Friday, the seventh round of Bajaur Peace Jirga ended without a breakthrough as the negotiations hit a stalemate at a central point of contention between the two parties. Both sides raised objections to a particular clause being discussed, resulting in a stalemate.

In a speech with the media, Peace Confirmed Jirga Member Saibzada Haroonur Rasheed the stalemate and said, “There is effort to resolve the model. Jirga remains obliged to play his role in maintaining peace in the region.”

He urged both parties to exercise restraint and patience during the ongoing process.

“We have appealed to both sides to demonstrate tolerance. They have assured us that in the event of a conflict, civilians will not be injured,” he added.

In a significant development, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has called Bajaur Jirga members of Chief Minister House in Peshawar on Saturday, August 9.

The move is seen as a step to accelerate the resolution effort and restore calm in the area.

Bajaur Peace Jirga remains an important platform for dialogue and conflict resolution in the region. Despite the current setbacks, brokers remain aspiring for progress in the coming days.
