Angels ShortStop Zach Neto was there to flip the ball out of the air, steps on the second base to get the base tunner lagging from the other too far and threw to the first basseman Nolan Schanuel, who labeled Dalton Rushing, to finish the triple. Neto was credited with two putouts and an assist on the play.

“I caught the ball, stepped in second place, and when I was looking for first, I saw the guy’s kind still puzzled at first, so I threw the ball over there and hoped that Nolan could play, and he did,” Neto said. “I actually told Nolan that if he messed up one – because it was the first (triple game) ever in my life – if he messed it up, we would have some words.”

It was the eighth triple game in the club’s history, but only the second since 1997. The team ended last one in August 2023 against Tampa Bay Rays.

Neto said he has only seen triple spectacles ended on social media.

“I’ve only seen it on YouTube and Tikkok and all,” he said.

Ohtani introduced some revenge later in the game as he hit a home to put Dodgers up 6-5 at the top of the ninth. However, the angels contracted at the bottom of the ninth with a Schanuel victim fly to tie the game and Jo Addell’s high-chops in it 10. To give the team the victory.

The angels won 7-6 and improved to 58-62 in the season.
