President Donald Trump welcomed Los Angeles Dodgers to the White House to celebrate their World Cup in 2024 over New York Yankees.

When Trump proclaimed the performance of the team and its star players, he took a little jab at Boston Red Sox to trade Mookie Betts for Dodgers before the 2020 season. Since then, Dodgers has won two World Series titles with Betts on the team and is ready to drive it back again in 2025.

Trump recognized the deal that Dodgers made.

“Mookie Betts, oh he’s good,” Trump said before shaking the star player’s hand. “That guy can play, he can’t? I mean, incredible. I won’t say I saw him when he was at Boston, but I did.

“I didn’t think it was a particularly good deal when they made it and I happened to be right.”

President Trump is a fan of New York Yankees and mentioned as such during his speech. He also talked about the difficulty of sitting next to the deceased Yankee’s owner George Steinbrenner during a game.
