The one thing that remains constant in the crypto market, boom or not, is hacks. On Thursday, hackers seized the domain of Bonk.fun, the Raydium and BONK-backed Solana token launchpad, and planted a wallet drain there.
Operator Tom announced the hack to the community through his X account @SolportTom. “Do not use the domain for now, hackers have hijacked a team account and are forcing a drainer on the DOMAIN,” he said. Bonk’s official X-handle confirmed as much.
The breach underscores persistent vulnerabilities in crypto frontends even as institutional participation booms and ecosystems grow larger.
Tom added that previous connections to bonk.fun remain secure, as do trades made through third-party terminals. Only those who signed a false terms of service notice on the compromised site after the breach were affected, and prompt community warnings appear to have limited the damage.
“We are doing everything in our power to rectify the situation,” the operator said, prioritizing users who have trusted the platform for the past eight months. The operator did not disclose the exact dollar amount of losses, but emphasized that the incident was caught quickly.
