- Origin Code will demonstrate its new Vortex DDR5 memory at CES 2026
- This RAM has a triple-fan cooling solution (which is removable)
- The active fan cooling promises to offer 40% better performance than passive cooling, but given the RAM crisis, expect this memory to be seriously expensive
Origin Code is a lesser-known RAM brand that has a fairly new take on DDR5 RAM modules, which the company plans to debut at CES 2026.
We’ve heard about Origin Code’s Vortex DDR5 memory before, but the manufacturer will demonstrate the RAM at CES in January, as VideoCardz reports – and the unique touch here is that the memory has a three-fan cooling system.
We can expect demos focused on “sustained overclocking” in real-world workloads that show what Vortex DDR5 can do.
The active cooling for this memory is a triple-fan unit that mounts on top of the RAM modules and is removable. The kits available start from 2 x 16GB modules (32GB total), and go up to quad configurations such as 4 x 48GB (for a total of 192GB).
We may also get pricing information from Origin Code at CES 2026, and needless to say, given the current RAM pricing crisis, which has hit a ridiculously high rate at an astonishing pace, this could come as a shock.
Analysis: Honey, I shrunk the graphics card fans
For that price, this is fancy, high-end RAM – which is already going to be stupidly expensive, as mentioned – with an innovative custom active cooling system on top, so there’s no telling how high the cost can run. Expect something in the eyes, of course.
Is a cooling system like this even necessary for system memory? Well, of course it’s somewhat exaggerated, but it could be valuable to enthusiasts, who might be the target audience.
Origin Code is clearly convinced that it will make a difference to high-end PC builds, since the company will show an active versus passive cooling comparison to demonstrate the effectiveness of the former. The marketing claim is that the fans offer a 40% improvement in cooling performance, presumably compared to passive cooling, when the fan assembly is removed.
And I have to admit: making your RAM look like a small graphics card sitting in the middle of your motherboard with the three fans on top of the modules is pretty cool in terms of pure visual appeal. But yes – that price will undoubtedly be something to behold (if we see prices at all).
Although you could look at this product from a different perspective in terms of cost, namely that a few months ago a cooling add-on like this would have raised the price of DDR5 modules considerably.
Whereas the RAM slots themselves are now going to be so expensive that the triple-fan topper isn’t going to mean nearly as much of a percentage increase compared to the total cost of the Vortex memory. So this innovation makes sense in the modern market in a strange way.
