AI PCS is almost one-third (31%) of the global PC market by the end of 2025 with an estimated 77.8 million units expected to be sent, new figures have claimed.
This growth shows no sign of braking yet, with AI-capable PCs set to dominate the market with a 55% share next year (equivalent to 143 million units), the latest gardener figures have claimed.
Factoring in update cycles and market trends says Garnter AI PCS will be the “norm” in 2029 across workplaces and homes.
AI -PCs are gaining popularity by the year
The figures show that this segment of the PC market has already doubled since 2024 (15.6% versus 31%) -with laptops remains a favorite where AI -Bearing computers have more than twice the market share than AI -Desktops.
Gartner senior director analyst Ranjit Atwal said that although adoption has subsided something due to geopolitically induced customs, “users will invest in AI PCs to make sure they are prepared for growing integration of AI at the edge.”
Canaly’s main analyst Ben Yeh agreed: “Trump -administration’s evolving customs policies continue to reshape global PC supply chains while throwing considerable uncertainty about market recovery.”
Separate research from Canalys found that AI-compatible PCs had reached a 23% market share within the fourth quarter of 2024-up over the 17% year-round average.
This adoption has been helped by AI-PCs starting to put on the market after a few iterations-for example, Apple’s M-Series computers are considered AI capable. When they are up to five years old, prices have fallen and democratizing consumer access to powerful machines.
Looking ahead, gardener predicts additional developments to allow more small language models to run locally on AI -PCs by the end of 2026, up from zero in 2023.
