Many of us remember on January 19, the day Tiktok was deleted from app stores before being reintroduced about 12 hours later.
We were told that Tiktok had a new shelf life of 75 days and promised that an American buyer would soon hover in to save the day.
But today, April 4, is 75 days after January 19 – and we still don’t have a completed deal for one of the world’s largest social media platforms with over 175 m US users.
Is Tiktok actually banned in the US again?
No, Tiktok doesn’t disappear from app stores – yet
Although the first 75 -day repayment period issued by the president’s executive order has now gone, Tiktok is here to stay … so far.
The Trump administration has issued another executive order to hold Tiktok in the US app stores for another 75 days, making the new deadline on June 18.
He explains in a post about truth social, “My administration has worked very hard on an agreement to save Tiktok, and we have made enormous progress. The trade requires more work to ensure that all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I sign an executive order to keep Tikkok going for another 75 days.”

More importantly, the city dancing sent us their first public comment on the potential sale, and to be honest it does not sound more secure that what we hear from President Trump:
“Bytance has been in discussion with the US government about a potential solution to tictok us an agreement has not been executed. There are key issues that need to be resolved. Any agreement will be subject to approval under Chinese law,” a bytedance spoke spoke in an e email sent to Techradar.
The question still is: How many 75-day extensions do we get before the long-awaited deal is completed?
Trump mentions that his administration “doesn’t want Tiktok to ‘go dark’,” but at this point we have very few details about the potential deal in place, and bytedance notes there are “key questions” they still have to solve.
While we wait for the couple to reach an appointment, there are several Tiktok free -volunteer in the mixture.
We are aware of some interested parties, namely:
But Tiktok’s fate is ultimately still known in the balance, as nothing has come from any of these potential buyers.
Governments, Customs and Tiktok
President Trump also touches on tariffs that have made waves recently as popular tech companies are dealing with the rising costs of production and transit.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre -orders were just announced as delayed in the United States “In the middle of Customs Insurance” for example, and it is possible that the Chinese government is not interested in approving a sale with these fierce fines in place.
Trump explains, “We hope to continue working in good faith with China, which I understand is not very happy with our mutual tariffs (necessary for fair and balanced trade between China and the US!). This proves that customs are the most powerful economic tool and very important for our national security!”
It is undoubtedly a rocky sea to navigate, but at least we know that we have another 75 day downfall rolling in front of us.
