Dove Cameron is already working on her wedding vision board with her fiancé, Damiano David.
The singer and actress opened up about her engagement and plans for the big day in a new interview with Vogue published on Monday, January 26, and reveals that staying true to yourself means more than sticking to bridal standards.
“For the actual proposal, I didn’t wear any makeup,” Cameron revealed. “I was completely bare-faced because I had no idea it would be that day. It was very cute that way because I’m typically very make-up, done. I have fun experimenting with those things. But in this case, I was just in my big T-shirt, slightly damp hair and no makeup.”
Details of the wedding itself remain private, but Cameron made it clear that she plans to take an unconventional approach to her bridal look. She told Vogue that conventional “soft” makeup styles don’t feel authentic to her.
“Honestly, for my actual wedding day, I don’t want to do anything too traditional,” she said. “Every time I get my makeup done in a very pretty, sort of gold wash, very light eye shadow and just a little bit of mascara, I don’t feel like myself.”
She added, “I’d rather be in literally no makeup, or like kind of a smudged eye, like I put eyeliner on and I cursed myself, stuff like that.”
Cameron, 30, announced her engagement to the Moonlight frontman earlier this month, but told the magazine that the actual proposal happened privately in October.
The couple kept their engagement a secret for months, and speculation only started in late October when Cameron was spotted in Sydney wearing a ring. They later shared the news publicly in January.
