DPM, FM DAR meets Malaysian Prime Minister, lifting deeper ties on the ASEAN -Forum

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN regional forum ministerial meeting.

Dar conveyed hot wishes from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and repeated Islamabad’s obligation to elaborate on bilateral relations with Malaysia.

He also praised Malaysia’s leadership as chairman of ASEAN for 2025.

Ibrahim reciprocated the warm feelings and said he was looking forward to offering Prime Minister Shehbaz to Malaysia in October.

Dar thanked the Malaysian leader for the hospitality and the successful organization of the ASEAN forum.

He also welcomed Malaysia’s practical steps to welcome trade and investments between the two countries following Prime Minister Ibrahim’s visit to Pakistan last October.

DAR represents Pakistan at the ASEAN Regional Forum.

The high-level meeting brings together foreign ministers and senior representatives from 27 ARF member states as well as the Secretary General of ASEAN to consider the most important political and security challenges facing Asia and the Pacific region.

On the agenda, peace, stability and multilateral collaboration strengthen through constructive dialogue.

During his stay in Kuala Lumpur, DPM is also expected to interact with members of the Pakistani Diaspora in Malaysia.

The ARF was established in 1994 and is a leading multilateral platform for political and security consultations in the Asia-Stophavet.
