President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari’s personal doctor, Dr. Asim Hussain, has strongly denied rumors circulating about the president’s health state.
Speaking at a press conference held at Ziauddin Hospital Clifton on Saturday, Dr. ASIM reports and images that were circulated on social media and Indian news channels such as “False and Misleading.”
According to Dr. Asim is President Zardari’s condition improved significantly and he is expected to be discharged from the hospital within a day or two.
“I regret that baseless news of the president’s health is spread by Indian media and social platforms,” Dr. Asim. “President Zardari was in Nawabshah last Saturday after leaving Islamabad. He called me on Eid Day and said he felt unwell.”
Dr. ASIM further explained that the president later reported chills and fever. Due to limited medical facilities in Nawabshah, Dr. Asim der that night and arranged for the president to be transferred to Karachi on Monday, where he was admitted to the hospital and underwent medical tests.
“The tests confirmed that President Zardari had received Covid-19,” Dr. Asim. “Fortunately, his condition is much better now. A senior team of doctors monitors him and he must be excreted soon.”
He emphasized that Covid-19 still exists in Pakistan, although there is now antiviral medicine. Dr. ASIM also processed incorrect information that was spread and said, “The president has high blood pressure and diabetes, but there is no need to panic. Political opponents can say what they want and India is already our opponent – but this kind of propaganda is inappropriate.”
When asked about the authenticity of video footage circulating online, Dr. ASIM: “Whether the president releases footage in the hospital is his political decision. All clips on social media are fake.”
Dr. Asim concluded by calling on the public not to believe in unconfirmed information and assured that President Zardari is receiving the best medical treatment.
