Duke Blue Devils Lord’s Basketball Star Cooper Flagg fought through an eye injury to lead the No. 2 team in the nation to a 35-point victory over Florida State on Saturday night.
Flagg was stabbed in the eye in the first half in the middle of a tough error. He sat out for about 11 minutes, but returned to start the second half and finished with 16 points in the 100-65 win.

“He was looked up and scratched up,” said Flagg’s teammate Sion James. “Cooper is one of the toughest guys I’ve ever played with. I trusted that if he was fine he would be back. He was back and better than ever.”
Duke head coach Jon Scheyer described the damage as a proposed eyelid.
“As a basketball player, you’re not thinking about hurting your eye,” Scheyer said. “It doesn’t cross your mind. I had never seen him look afraid. I thought he was afraid at first, rightly because you don’t know how serious or permanent … I was really nervous about him.”

Scheyer added that Flagg had some “vision problems” which extended his return to the floor. Flagg was not made available to talk to journalists after the game.
The Duchy star is widely regarded as the favorite as the top election of 2025 NBA Draft. He average 19.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per Match this season.

Blue Devils has two matches left on their schedule for the season. They play Wake Forest Monday and go to North Carolina on Saturday.
