Last month, Dyson revealed the Pencilvac – a new addition to Brands Floorcare setup and apparently the world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner. Yesterday I had a chance to try one and it turns out that this odd -looking VAC is a heck of a smooth mover.
Pencilvac doesn’t look like your standard wireless stick vacuum. The engine, filters and dust cup are all hidden in the cost -like handle that clocks on a diminutive 1.5 inches / 3.8 cm in diameter. The floor head is just as surprising with its four cone -shaped, fluffy rolls.
Less obvious from the press images is just how maneuverable this cleaner is. The cleaning head can turn on the spot and it cleans from the front and from the back. Like all the best dyson vacuums, it can be flat on the ground and because the handle is symmetrical, you can also keep it from any side. You can make the figure Ã…tter on your floor if you can get your angles right.
Maneuverability is impressive, but there are many more cool features besides. The ‘quadconic’ floor head is new to this machine and designed, so if it bumps on long hair, it will go to the narrow end of the cone and blow out like a bundle on the side, at what time it can easily be vacuumed. The soft material is perfect for delicate hard floors, and the cones protrude from the house so you can clean right into the corners and even give your baseboards a bit of a dust as you walk.

Dyson has added his distinctive green laser (which first appeared on the Dyson V15 detected) to the cleaner head. This helps throw shadows on garbage on the floor so you don’t miss the smallest stain of dirt. Here it is located in the middle of both sides of the floor head, and it is as useful as ever.
Who is pencilvac for?
While Dyson says Pencilvac can be used on blanket, it’s really specialized for hard floors. The fluffy rollers are perfect for hard floors and the laser really comes to its own on a solid surface.
Although it seems to be a strong competitor to Techradar’s best vacuum for wooden floor -roundup, the soft rolls will not agitate the fibers enough to offer a deeply clean on the rug. The suction is also much lower than you find in the main flagship area – partly because of the engine and partly because of the more open floor head design.

For many, it will be a free machine rather than your most important vacuum, but if you want something for quick clean -up on hard floors, Pencilvac looks perfect. Full review that needs to be followed when I’ve had a chance to put it through its pace properly.
At the time of writing, I don’t have any price information for Pencilvac, but I know it’s scheduled to sell in Australia in August 2025 before hitting the US and British markets sometime in 2026. If you can’t wait that long, you can check Dyson V12 that detects slim
