- EA takes anthem offline permanently in January
- The online-senest game will be taken from the EA game next month
- Premium currency is also not available to buy right now
Bioware’s third -person shooter Anthem is the latest in a wide range of online games to receive only a death sentence as Publisher EA takes the game offline next year.
As reported by IGN, Anthem will effectively cease to exist on January 12, 2026, when the game’s server is taken offline. Anthem Requires an online connection to play, which means this will make the game permanently non -gameable.
Currently, EA has removed the opportunity to buy premium currency in the game and it is scheduled to be delisted from EA Play next month, August 15. Players who already own the game – or who bought it before the August date – will still play it before its closure in January.
While EA insists on its decision to shrink Anthem Did not incur any job cuts, the company dismissed an unspecified number of Bioware employees back in January, including several veterans Dragon Age Series developers. This was apparently a decision that was made to focus the efforts on the upcoming Mass Effect game.
Anthem Was never the stone -cold success, as it might have to be, with a lot of criticism charged by its bland story and repeated gameplay. But like an always-online-pve shooter outside the MMORPG room, it was undoubted Destiny 2, Overwatch, And of course Fortnite.
