A mild earthquake hit the federal capital of Islamabad and several districts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Thursday afternoon, causing fear and panic among the residents.
The shakes were felt in Peshawar, Batkhela, Takht Bhai, Lower Dir, Buner and Rustam and their surrounding areas.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale. It hit at. 13:28 local time with a depth of 198 kilometers.
The epicenter was located in the border area between Afghanistan and Tadsjikistan within the Hindu Kush mountain range.
A spokesman for Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that so far no damage or property damage had been reported.
PDMA said its emergency surgery center remains in contact with district administrations throughout the province. Citizens have been asked to report any inappropriate incident on the relief line 1700.
