Karachi:
The Christian community celebrated the Festival of Easter on Sunday with strict security arrangements for all churches over Sindh.
Easter began with religious services, including prayers, with the participation of a large number of women, children and men.
Prayers were offered for the security, peace and stability of the country, and Christian leaders said that the teachings of Jesus Christ illustrate humanity, love and fraternity.
Easter is the second largest festival in the Christian community and is also interpreted as the victory in life over death.
Sindh -Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has expanded Easter greetings to the Christian community on Sunday.
He said that the Christian community celebrated Easter with great affection and respect. Murad said Easter taught us about mutual love and respect for each other. “We have great respect for minorities,” he added.
The minister said that the Christian community had played a key role in the development of Pakistan.
Only through mutual love and affection could be put on its way to development, he said, adding that all minorities in the country enjoyed religious rights and freedom.
