Karachi: Light rain and drizzle are expected today (Thursday) as the humidity continues in the port city, says Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Met Office said the existing humid weather is likely to remain the same with partial covering of clouds over the metropolis over the next 24 hours.
According to the MET department, the maximum temperature in Karachi can reach up to 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimal registered was 26.9 ° C. Humidity in the air was reported to 74% over the last 24 hours.
The current forecast for light rain and drip comes in the wake of a clear low pressure system. It angled closer to the Arabian Sea in the last few days and raised the risk of a tropical cyclone later this week. Heavy showers had beaten the port city on Tuesday under the same system and brought short respite from the swelling weather.
However, in its latest update of the system, PMD said it was currently located across the Northeast Arabian Sea, is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone.
The system is about 440 kilometers south of Karachi and is likely to spread across the sea in the coming days, it added.
PMD has advised fishermen in Sindh to avoid venturing into deep waters until tomorrow as a precautionary measure, although there is no immediate cyclon threat to the coast.
According to Met Office, the damp streams from the Arabian Sea widespread rain and thunderstorms drove over the southeast Sindh, which affects Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Adjoining Districts until October 2nd.
