The Pakistan Election Commission (ECP) issued a reminder to all political parties on Friday and called on them to submit their consolidated financial statements for the financial year 2024–25 before August 29, 2025 in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2017.
In an official release, the ECP emphasized that in accordance with section 210 of the Electoral Act, 2017, together with section 204 and rules 159 and 160 in the election rules, 2017, any political party is required to submit Form-D, which must include revised financial details for the year ending on June 30, 2025.
The accounts must outline the party’s annual income and expenses, sources of funds, assets and obligations and must be accompanied by an audit report prepared by a chartered auditor.
In addition, political parties must submit a certificate signed by an authorized office carrier, confirming that no funds were received from prohibited sources under the Electoral Act. The certification must also confirm the accuracy and completeness of the financial information provided.
According to Rule 156 of the Electoral Rules, the declaration must be submitted personally by an office berries approved by the party’s head. ECP clarified that statements sent by mail, fax, courier or other methods will not be accepted.
Printed copies of Form-D are available free of charge at the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad and in offices for provincial election commissioners in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The form and pro forma for the source of funds can also be downloaded from the ECP’s official site.
The submission must also include readable copies of the party’s bank statement from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, along with a bank reconciliation. An attested copy of the auditor’s membership certificate issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, along with the latest renewal, must be connected.
The Commission called on all political parties to ensure that their submissions are complete, legible and free of overwriting as incomplete or incorrectly submitted statements can be rejected.
